Failure to Comply: pre-pub diaries #1
Hi all! I’ve been noodling around with this idea for a bit, and intimated it in my last public newsletter. I’m hoping to send out periodic, casual, journally updates (including an image I find online that makes me go “fuck yes, this is the vibe”) on the pre- (and maybe also post-) publication process for Failure to Comply, beginning with this one. If you’d like to follow along, comment/dialogue, and do potential future live chats (?!), consider becoming a paid subscriber. If you’d like to read these but lack the funds, hit me up and I can give you a gift subscription.
First and foremost: Official –– that is, non-scrungly, non-hasty –– ARCs are now available in PDF form (as in, if you want one for review/interview/publicity, just get in touch!). Preorders remain open, and it’s awesome to hear that they’re rolling in! Preordering is a great way to support authors and small presses, and if my book sounds interesting to you, consider placing one.
I have to admit, shit’s getting real. My friend Claire Oshetsky, author of Chouette and Poor Deer, mentioned to me a month or so ago that the moment I inhabited back then –– where the book is, in many ways, “done,” yet hidden from the view of readers –– was a special one. One I should savor. At the time, I don’t think I quite understood how precious that moment was, though I guess that’s always how it is with offspring.
